There’s A Reason Why Humans Laugh…
And here it is…
We are the only creatures on this particular planet (and least it seems that way) that have the capacity to act outside our hard-wired programming. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly.
What are we supposed to do?
We’re supposed to play around with the glorious planet. We’re supposed to muck around, bump into stuff, try and fail, try and fail.
We’re supposed to argue, fight, discover fire, the wheel, electricity, the Internet and Lord knows what else.
We wouldn’t do this if we didn’t have the capacity to be major screw-ups. We wouldn’t be doing any of this if we didn’t have the Divine gift of self awareness, forgiveness, and laughter.
We are the only beings who laugh at themselves. We laugh not because something is “funny.” We laugh because it is our defense against what seems tragic. We turn our misfortune into our golden learning opportunities.
Laughter not only makes things bearable, it gives us the power to push forward, to our next screw-up, and eventual triumph.
Don’t take any of this stuff too seriously, folks. There’s a reason why this craziness is actually funny…by messing up and laughing at ourselves, we fulfill our birthright…our truly Divine nature.
Get out of your own way. Laugh a little. Live and love a lot.
